One Day in Jeonju: Hanok Streets, a Shrine and Good Food
Give Jeonju a full day around the Hanok Village instead of spreading a short visit across the whole city. This route is for travelers who want a compact heritage walk, a proper meal and time to pause between the two.

Start with the right arrival point
Book your arrival and return journeys first, then map the local transfer to the Hanok Village. The walkable part of this itinerary begins in the village area, not at the railway station or every bus terminal. Save your return pickup point and leave time to retrieve luggage before heading back.
- Morning: Gyeonggijeon and nearby hanok streets.
- Lunch: One sit-down local meal.
- Afternoon: Village lanes and a tea or craft stop.
- Later: Nambu Market if it fits your return.
Morning: Put the timed visit first
Start with Gyeonggijeon, then explore the surrounding streets at your own pace. The shrine is in the Hanok Village area, making it a useful anchor rather than an additional trip across town. Gyeonggijeon visitor information lists September–October opening from 09:00 to 19:00, with last admission one hour before closing. Confirm your travel date and visitor category before buying a ticket.

We suggest giving the morning one major site and a short walk. If you want hanbok rental, compare the return time, deposit and what is included before committing; a rental deadline should fit the itinerary, not unexpectedly dictate it.

Lunch and snacks: what to eat in Jeonju
Save a main meal and an optional snack with your sightseeing stops. These are meal choices for this itinerary, not a requirement to eat everything on the list.
Lunch · after your morning heritage visit
Bibimbap · 비빔밥
A rice-based meal mixed with its toppings and seasoning.
Fit it into your day: Hanok Village area. The city’s guide lists Gogung Suragan’s Hanok Village branch as an option. Make the main meal the anchor, then decide how many snacks you still want.

Lunch alternative
Kalguksu · 칼국수
Knife-cut noodle soup: an alternative if you prefer noodles to bibimbap.
Fit it into your day: Hanok Village area. Veteran Kalguksu is another option in the official city guide. This is a choice between meals, not a second compulsory lunch.

Afternoon · one sweet finish
Jeonju choco pie · 전주 초코파이
PNB’s version combines chocolate cake, jam and cream.
Fit it into your day: A verified PNB branch in or around Hanok Village. Choose a choco pie to take away or a seated tea break. Leave the rest of the afternoon for the village lanes.
Afternoon: Let the village set the pace
Return to the lanes you wanted to see more slowly, browse a craft shop, or take a café break. The KTO Jeonju walking route places the Hanok Village, Gyeonggijeon and Nambu Market within a wider suggested course. Our version leaves out the more distant additions so there is room to enjoy this smaller area.

Respect residential spaces and posted access signs. Avoid entering courtyards simply because the door is open. If your group includes anyone who finds steps or long walks difficult, choose a shorter loop and a clear meeting place.

Before departure: Market or more breathing room?
Add Nambu Market only if you still have time after checking the return journey. Market stalls and special night-market sessions have their own operating days; do not assume a night market runs every evening. If the timing does not work, use the last block for a relaxed meal or collecting your bags.

An overnight stay makes more sense if an evening experience is the reason you are coming. One day is enough for a focused introduction, but it is not a promise that you can see the whole city between any two trains.
Budget and rain plan
Separate the intercity journey from the local transfer, shrine admission, lunch, tea and optional rental or shopping. Check posted prices before ordering or renting. During heavy rain, shorten outdoor loops and use an open indoor exhibition or a longer café stop. Keep shoes comfortable and allow extra time for wet paving. Save the route together with your return ticket details so the enjoyable last stop does not become a rushed departure.
